CORE PURPOSE
We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and passionate Music Teacher to inspire pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level Music and Music Technology delivery). Working closely with the Head of Performing Arts, the successful candidate will deliver engaging practical and theoretical music lessons, lead instrumental ensembles, and cultivate a vibrant extracurricular music culture across the school.

Set on a modern campus featuring dedicated soundproof practice rooms, an IT suite equipped with music technology software (Cubase, Sibelius, and GarageBand), a fully equipped recording studio, and a performance hall, this thriving secondary academy supports over 1,100 pupils in Peterborough. KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver practical, engaging music lessons across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE Music / BTEC Tech Award in Music Practice), covering performance, composition, and listening/appraisal skills.

Extracurricular & Ensemble Leadership: Direct school choirs, bands, orchestras, and ensemble groups, coordinating regular rehearsals and leading seasonal concerts and showcase events.

Music Technology & Production: Integrate music software and digital recording tools into curriculum delivery, supporting students in composing and recording original work.

Peripatetic Supervision: Collaborate with visiting peripatetic instrumental and vocal tutors, managing timetables and tracking student progress across individual tuition programs.

Pastoral & School Life: Act as a dedicated Form Tutor, contribute to whole-school assemblies, and participate in inter-house creative competitions.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Music, Music Performance, or Music Education. Confident Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced music educators are equally encouraged to apply.

Experience: Proven experience teaching Music within a UK mainstream secondary school or academy setting.

Skills: Strong keyboard or instrumental proficiency, solid vocal leading abilities, proficiency in music technology software, and the ability to inspire musical participation among pupils of all ability levels.
