The school is now seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support pupils across Nursery, Reception, and Key Stage 1.
Role Purpose
The Behaviour Mentor will work closely with pupils who require additional support to manage emotions, behaviour, and engagement with learning. Many of the children supported may present with SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD, attachment difficulties, or speech and language delays. You will act as a consistent and trusted adult, helping pupils to feel safe, understood, and supported throughout the school day. Through positive relationships and structured interventions, you will support children to develop emotional awareness, self-regulation skills, and positive behaviour patterns.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted 1:1 behavioural and emotional support
- Deliver small group interventions focusing on emotional literacy and social skills
- Support children within Nursery and classroom environments
- Assist pupils during transitions and daily routines
- Support behaviour during playtimes and lunchtime periods
- Implement individual behaviour support plans
- Use restorative, play-based, and trauma-informed approaches
- Work closely with class teachers, EYFS staff, and the SENCO
- Observe, assess, and track pupil progress
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to review meetings
- Build strong and respectful relationships with parents and carers
- Support safeguarding and child protection procedures
The Ideal Candidate

You should have a strong understanding of early childhood development and the ability to respond to challenging behaviour with patience and consistency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience in a Primary, Nursery, or EYFS setting
- Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, and attachment-based approaches
- A nurturing and consistent behaviour management style
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Emotional resilience and adaptability
- A reflective and proactive approach to supporting pupils
Qualifications in childcare, education, psychology, youth work, or mental health are desirable but not essential.
