About the Role

Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, manage contractors, coordinate compliance checks, supervise site staff where appropriate, and contribute to ongoing site improvement projects.

This is a varied leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, practical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring the school site operates efficiently every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the school site

  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance programmes

  • Manage contractors and monitor service agreements

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation

  • Carry out regular inspections and maintain compliance records

  • Oversee site security and emergency procedures

  • Support budget planning and facilities improvement projects

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the whole school community

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in premises, estates, facilities, or site management

  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance and health and safety legislation

  • Experience managing contractors and maintenance schedules

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lead workloads effectively and respond to operational priorities

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting

  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification

  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within schools

  • Experience managing facilities budgets and capital improvement projects
