A prestigious Independent Sixth Form College in Oxford is seeking to appoint an exceptional Economics Teacher to join its highly successful Social Sciences department from September. About the Role
You will teach Economics at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and academically rigorous lessons that challenge students to think critically, analyse data, and evaluate economic arguments with confidence.
Students will study both microeconomics and macroeconomics, exploring areas such as market structures, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade, and global development. You will prepare students for A-Level examinations while developing their essay-writing, quantitative reasoning, and evaluative skills.
The successful candidate will also contribute to wider academic enrichment, including economics societies, university preparation, debating opportunities, and current affairs discussions.
Key Responsibilities
Teach A-Level Economics to KS5 students
Deliver engaging and intellectually challenging lessons
Prepare students for A-Level examinations
Develop students’ analytical, quantitative, and evaluative skills
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment activities such as economics clubs and debating
Maintain high expectations for academic achievement and student engagement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching Economics at secondary or post-16 level
Strong subject knowledge in Economics
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Commitment to high academic standards and student achievement
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Economics
Experience working within an independent or sixth form setting
Degree in Economics or a closely related discipline
Ability to contribute to wider academic enrichment opportunities
Strong track record of examination success and university progression support
