Secondary academies, comprehensive schools, and Sixth Forms across Oxford and surrounding Oxfordshire (OX postcodes, including Central Oxford, Headington, Cowley, and Summertown) are seeking confident Computer Science Specialists for immediate (ASAP start) day-to-day and short-term supply cover across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5.

Role Overview

As a specialist Computer Science Supply Teacher, you will step into pre-planned Computing, IT, and Computer Science lessons across various secondary settings in Oxford. Local schools specifically value subject specialists who can guide students through programming exercises, algorithm design, and theoretical computing concepts in IT suites while keeping classes focused and on task during short-term teacher absences.

This position offers complete flexibility: choose to work anywhere from 1 to 5 days per week with zero lesson planning, marking, or parents' evening commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute pre-set Computer Science lesson plans across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level)

  • Assist pupils with coding logic, syntax troubleshooting (particularly Python), and theoretical data structures

  • Maintain a secure, productive, and focused learning environment across computer suites and IT labs

  • Enforce school digital safety policies, computer usage rules, and classroom behavior expectations

  • Complete electronic attendance registers accurately at the start of each period

  • Leave structured written feedback and handover notes for returning departmental staff

Candidate Requirements

  • Good practical familiarity with Python programming and secondary computing concepts

  • Excellent classroom management, technical communication, and problem-solving skills

  • An active DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
