A prestigious and academically strong secondary school in Oxford is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Chemistry Technician to support its thriving Science faculty as soon as possible. Chemistry is a flagship subject within the school, with consistently strong GCSE and A Level uptake and excellent examination outcomes. The Role
- Preparing chemicals, solutions, and apparatus for practical Chemistry lessons across KS3–KS5
- Supporting advanced practical investigations at GCSE and A Level
- Ensuring safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and coordinating servicing or repairs
- Managing chemical stock control and maintaining accurate inventories
- Assisting teachers with risk assessments and updating safety documentation
- Supporting the preparation and administration of required practical assessments
- Ensuring laboratories remain compliant, organised, and safe at all times
- Liaising with other Science technicians to ensure smooth departmental operations
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous laboratory or Chemistry-based experience (school or industry)
- Strong understanding of COSHH and laboratory safety procedures
- High attention to detail and organisational accuracy
- Confidence supporting practical investigations at GCSE and A Level
- The ability to prioritise workload in a busy school environment
- A professional, reliable, and proactive approach
