A vibrant and well-regarded secondary school in Manchester is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Site Manager to join its facilities team as soon as possible. You will play a key role in ensuring the school site is a safe, secure, and inspiring environment that supports the high aspirations of our students and staff.

As Site Manager, you will take ownership of a multi-million-pound estate, balancing daily maintenance requests with long-term strategic planning. This is a permanent position for a dedicated professional who takes pride in the physical presentation and operational efficiency of a school campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estate Management: Overseeing the daily maintenance, cleaning, and security of the school buildings and grounds to ensure they are kept to the highest possible standards.
  • Team & Contractor Leadership: Managing a dedicated site team and coordinating external contractors for specialist repairs, ensuring all work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Health & Safety: Acting as the school’s Health & Safety lead, conducting regular risk assessments, fire safety checks, and ensuring all COSHH and compliance documentation is up to date.
  • Budgetary Oversight: Managing the premises budget, negotiating with suppliers, and identifying cost-saving or sustainable energy initiatives to reduce the school's environmental impact.
  • Event Logistics: Coordinating the setup of rooms and technical requirements for school events, exams, and community lettings.
  • Emergency Response: Taking responsibility for the opening and closing of the school site and acting as the first point of call for emergency call-outs or security breaches.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Proven experience in facilities management, preferably within a school, college, or public sector setting.
  • Technical knowledge of building maintenance (e.g., plumbing, electrical, or joinery) and the ability to perform minor repairs personally.
