Job Overview
Science plays a prominent role in this schoolβs academic and co-curricular identity. The successful applicant will deliver practical and theoretical Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Combined & Separate Science), with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level Biology, Chemistry, or Physics delivery.
Working closely with the STEM department, you will guide pupils through safe laboratory experiments, scientific reasoning, and exam preparation, while supporting co-curricular science clubs. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities

Teach engaging practical and theoretical Science lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5

Plan, resource, and execute safe laboratory experiments in full compliance with CLEAPSS guidelines

Guide GCSE and A-Level pupils through required practical assessments, data analysis, and exam preparation

Maintain laboratory spaces, scientific machinery, chemical inventories, and specialized equipment safely

Assess, track, and report on student progress across practical laboratory work and written assessments

Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

Honors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related scientific discipline

Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE/A-Level Science outcomes

Strong practical laboratory skills and up-to-date knowledge of CLEAPSS safety protocols

An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
