You would be joining a successful Humanities department where History is taught as an engaging and academically ambitious subject. The department encourages students to question evidence, understand different perspectives and develop the ability to construct clear and well-supported historical arguments.

At Key Stage 3, students study a broad range of British and international history, building chronological understanding while developing their ability to analyse historical sources and interpretations. Students are encouraged to ask questions and make connections between different periods and events.

At GCSE, students develop more advanced skills in source analysis, interpretation and extended writing. The curriculum provides opportunities for students to explore significant historical events, individuals and developments while preparing them thoroughly for their examinations.

For A-Level students, lessons encourage greater independence and deeper engagement with historical debates. Students are expected to evaluate interpretations, undertake detailed research and develop sophisticated arguments in preparation for university and further study.

The department also provides enrichment through educational visits, museums, historical sites, guest speakers, debates and independent research projects. These opportunities help students see History as more than a classroom subject and encourage them to engage with historical evidence in a practical way.

You will work within a collaborative Humanities team where colleagues share resources, discuss assessment and contribute to curriculum development. The school offers regular CPD and provides opportunities for teachers to take on additional responsibilities as their experience develops.

The School is a Secondary School with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and developing confident, independent learners. Students are respectful, motivated and encouraged to take an active role in their education. The school provides a broad curriculum and a supportive pastoral structure designed to help every student achieve their potential.
