The Role

A highly regarded Secondary Academy in Manchester is seeking a professional, passionate, and highly organised History & Politics Teacher to join their expanding, high-performing Humanities faculty. This is an exceptional opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive school environment where humanities educators play a pivotal role in developing critical thinking, debating skills, and political literacy across the student body.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This includes delivering engaging, academically rigorous lessons covering modern world history at GCSE and the intricacies of British and global political frameworks at A-Level. Responsibilities will extend beyond classroom delivery to include maintaining precise student tracking logs, constructing multi-tier assessment rubrics, managing departmental communications, and actively leading the school’s extracurricular debating society and Mock Youth Parliament initiatives.

You will also orchestrate communication with parents, university outreach programs, and historical research networks, ensuring that all student data tracking and academic registries are handled with extreme professionalism. Strong organisational skills are a prerequisite, as you will balance the heavy essay-grading and coursework moderation demands of a bustling sixth form while supporting wider school community networks.

The school is looking for a proactive, reliable educator who can break down complex socio-political theories, quantitative electoral data, and historiographical debates into accessible, high-impact lessons. Advanced IT literacy and deep familiarity with data platform administration are highly valued, alongside a collaborative, forward-thinking approach to lesson planning and resource design.

This is an 11 to 18 well-established Academy in Manchester with a fierce commitment to high academic standards, civic engagement, and student wellbeing. Serving an ambitious, vibrant metropolitan community, the school is renowned for its inclusive ethos and state-of-the-art humanities facilities.

Students are characterized by their respectful behavior, deep motivation, and eagerness to participate in philosophical and historical inquiry. The school provides a calm, purposeful environment where academic excellence is balanced with robust pastoral care. Staff benefit from an open, collaborative professional culture, highly visible leadership, a reduced administrative load, and an excellent framework for targeted career progression and specialized training.
