Science Teaching Role in an Outstanding Academy

An Outstanding Academy in Nottingham is seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join its high-performing Science department from September. About the Role

You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire curiosity, resilience, and academic excellence.

The successful candidate will teach all three sciences at lower key stages, with opportunities to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics at A-Level depending on expertise and departmental needs.

You will play an active role in promoting scientific enquiry, practical investigation, and critical thinking, ensuring students develop the knowledge and skills required for success in examinations and beyond.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will contribute to curriculum development, intervention programmes, and STEM enrichment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities

  • Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Support intervention strategies to raise attainment

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Participate in STEM enrichment and extracurricular activities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Science

  • Experience working within an academy setting

  • Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities

  • Strong track record of securing excellent student outcomes
