We require an inspiring, highly collaborative Science Teacher to deliver outstanding general science instruction across Key Stage 3 and specialist Biology, Chemistry, or Physics modules across Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will facilitate a structured, practical-led curriculum designed to foster deep conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency in scientific equations, and robust empirical inquiry, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Combined Science and Separate Science public examinations.

Key Tasks & Daily Operations:

  • Dynamic & Practical Science Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality science lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent mathematical scaffolding to demystify complex formulas, balancing theoretical concepts with frequent hands-on laboratory work.
  • Closing Scientific Attainment Gaps: Identify and target learning barriers within mixed-ability cohorts, deploying visual logic models, physical demonstrations, and targeted literacy strategies to accelerate progress for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
  • Rigorous Laboratory Leadership: Oversee practical experiments with strict adherence to CLEAPSS health and safety guidelines, teaching pupils safe manipulation of chemical agents, electrical circuits, and biological specimens.
  • GCSE Performance Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal Foundation and Higher tier GCSE papers, utilizing formative test data to eliminate deep-seated scientific misconceptions and maximize grade retention.
  • Inclusive Pastoral Support: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, supporting pupil wellbeing, managing daily registration routines, and maintaining proactive, positive communication with families.

Profile Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related quantitative scientific discipline.
  • Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public GCSE examinations across both Combined and Separate Science pathways through structured, explicit scientific pedagogy.
