We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed Year 5 Teacher to join our primary school in Northampton, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach upper Key Stage 2 pupils, supporting their academic and personal development as they prepare for the transition into Year 6 and beyond.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across the curriculum, providing challenge and support to meet the needs of all learners. You will play a key role in developing pupils’ literacy, numeracy, and wider skills, fostering independence, confidence, and a love of learning. Our school prides itself on creating an inclusive and stimulating environment where all children feel valued and supported. Collaboration and professional development are central to the school’s ethos.
You will work closely with colleagues in Key Stage 2, sharing ideas and strategies to enhance teaching and learning, while contributing to whole-school initiatives that ensure continuity, progression, and high expectations for every pupil.
Role Responsibilities- Plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Year 5 curriculum in line with the National Curriculum
- Monitor pupil progress using assessment data to inform planning and target support
- Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and higher-attaining learners
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes engagement and curiosity
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain high standards and consistency
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and achievements
- Participate in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school-wide initiatives
- Encourage pupils to develop independence, resilience, and confidence in their learning

Who We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge in literacy, numeracy, and the wider curriculum
- Be confident in differentiating lessons to meet the diverse needs of pupils
- Have excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment
- Be collaborative, reflective, and committed to professional development
- Show dedication to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting pupils’ wellbeing
