An excellent secondary school in Northampton is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Sociology Teacher to join its dedicated department on a full-time basis, with an ASAP start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Sociology Teacher who can inspire students to engage with key sociological theories, concepts and contemporary issues. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons and support students in achieving strong academic outcomes.

About the Role

The successful Sociology Teacher will teach across KS4 and KS5, planning and delivering well-structured lessons that encourage students to think critically, develop strong analytical skills and apply their knowledge effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Sociology lessons

  • Teaching GCSE and A Level Sociology

  • Preparing students effectively for examinations

  • Assessing and monitoring student progress

  • Encouraging critical thinking and independent learning

  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom expectations

  • Contributing to departmental planning and wider school activities

Experience and Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Degree in Sociology or a related subject

  • Strong subject knowledge

  • Experience teaching Sociology at secondary level

  • Ability to teach confidently through KS5

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • A genuine passion for Sociology and education
