Biology Teaching Role in an Upper School

A successful Upper School in Northampton is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Biology Teacher to join its thriving Science faculty from September. Biology is a popular subject within the Science department, with students encouraged to develop curiosity, practical investigative skills, and a deep understanding of the living world through a challenging and engaging curriculum.

About the Role

You will teach Biology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that support excellent progress and inspire students to develop a love of science.

At KS3 and KS4, you will teach general Science with a strong Biology specialism, while at KS5 you will deliver A-Level Biology, helping students develop secure theoretical understanding, analytical skills, and practical competence.

Students study a broad and ambitious curriculum including cell biology, genetics, ecology, human physiology, evolution, microbiology, and biological investigation. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations while contributing to wider STEM and enrichment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Biology across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging Science lessons with a Biology specialism

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Plan and supervise practical investigations and laboratory activities

  • Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback

  • Monitor progress and implement targeted intervention strategies

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support STEM enrichment and wider science activities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Science with a Biology specialism

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Biology

  • Experience contributing to STEM enrichment activities

  • Strong track record of examination success and student progress

  • Ability to support curriculum development within Science
