Maths Teacher Role in an Academy School

An ambitious Academy School in Newton Aycliffe is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that help students develop fluency, reasoning, and confidence in applying mathematical concepts.

Students follow a broad curriculum covering number, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and mathematical problem-solving. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations, supporting them to achieve their full potential while developing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subject.

You will also contribute to enrichment opportunities, intervention programmes, STEM activities, and departmental initiatives designed to improve engagement and attainment in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging, well-planned, and challenging lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations

  • Develop students’ reasoning, fluency, and problem-solving skills

  • Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support intervention strategies and maths enrichment activities

  • Encourage confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards mathematics

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level or Further Mathematics

  • Experience supporting intervention programmes

  • Ability to contribute to STEM or enrichment activities

  • A proven track record of improving student outcomes
