A highly regarded secondary school in Milton Keynes is seeking to appoint an ambitious and talented Head of Geography to join its successful Humanities faculty from September 2026. This co-educational school has an excellent reputation and a strong community ethos. The successful candidate will lead and develop the Geography department, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 teaching available where suitable.

Working closely with senior leaders and the wider Humanities team, you will drive standards of teaching and learning, oversee curriculum development, monitor student progress, and contribute to raising attainment and engagement in Geography across the school. You will also play a key role in promoting extracurricular Geography opportunities, including fieldwork, educational visits, enrichment activities, sustainability projects, and wider cultural and environmental initiatives.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A degree in Geography or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification with QTS (such as PGCE)
  • Experience teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Experience leading or supporting a department, faculty, or key area within Geography
  • A strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment, and fieldwork delivery
  • The ability to inspire students of all abilities through engaging and challenging lessons
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for geographical enquiry, sustainability, and student achievement
  • The legal right to work in the UK
