Attendance Officer

A successful Secondary School in Milton Keynes is looking to appoint a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving student attendance and supporting young people to achieve their full potential. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, parents and external agencies, you will play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school.

You will be responsible for monitoring daily attendance, completing first-day absence procedures, maintaining accurate attendance records and analysing attendance data to identify patterns and trends. You will produce attendance reports for senior leaders and support the implementation of targeted intervention strategies for students whose attendance falls below expectations.

The role also involves contacting parents regarding student absences, arranging attendance meetings, maintaining accurate records using the school's management information system and ensuring attendance procedures comply with statutory guidance.

You will work alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams where attendance concerns may indicate wider welfare issues, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring every student receives the support they need.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities and the confidence to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
