An independent secondary school in Middlesbrough is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join its successful Science department. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher to deliver engaging lessons that develop students' understanding of Biology, Chemistry and Physics while encouraging curiosity and independent scientific thinking.
The successful candidate will teach Science across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach KS5 depending on experience and subject specialism. The role will involve practical investigations, scientific enquiry and preparation for examinations, helping students build the knowledge and skills required for further study. The national curriculum places strong emphasis on practical work, scientific enquiry, data analysis and applying scientific knowledge to real-world contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3-KS5
- Teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics at KS3 and KS4
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations
- Develop practical, investigative and analytical scientific skills
- Differentiating lessons to support students of varying abilities
- Assess progress and provide constructive, purposeful feedback
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
- Contribute to departmental planning and enrichment activities
- Encourage students to develop curiosity and enthusiasm for Science
Candidate Requirements
- QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Degree in Science or a related subject
- Strong subject knowledge across the three Science disciplines
- Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A commitment to high-quality teaching and student development
- ECTs with strong subject knowledge are welcome to apply
