Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher to join a secondary school in Bishop's Stortford from January. This role would suit a teacher who is passionate about helping pupils develop a secure understanding of mathematical concepts, improve their problem-solving abilities and build the confidence to approach challenging questions independently. The successful applicant will become part of a department committed to delivering an ambitious curriculum and supporting pupils in making sustained academic progress.

The appointed teacher will plan and deliver effective lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring that pupils develop the knowledge and skills required to progress confidently through the Mathematics curriculum. Teaching will cover areas such as number, algebra, geometry, ratio, proportion, statistics and probability, with appropriate emphasis on mathematical reasoning, fluency and problem-solving.

The school is looking for someone who can break down complex ideas into manageable steps, model effective methods and provide pupils with regular opportunities to practise and apply their learning. The successful candidate will use questioning and assessment to identify misconceptions, revisit difficult topics and ensure that pupils understand the reasoning behind mathematical procedures rather than relying solely on memorisation.

Classroom management and differentiation will be important aspects of the role. The teacher will establish clear expectations, create a positive learning environment and adapt activities to support pupils with different levels of attainment. They will provide additional scaffolding where needed and extend pupils who are ready to tackle more demanding problems. Supporting GCSE preparation through revision, examination practice and targeted intervention will also be an important responsibility.

The successful candidate will contribute to departmental collaboration, sharing resources, reviewing assessment outcomes and helping identify approaches that improve pupil engagement and achievement.
