Maths Teaching Role in a High-Performing Secondary School

A high-performing Secondary School in Newham is seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. Mathematics is a central part of the curriculum, with students encouraged to develop fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills through a carefully structured and engaging programme of study.

About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering high-quality lessons that challenge students and support excellent progress.

Students study a broad curriculum including algebra, geometry, ratio, probability, statistics, and higher-level mathematical reasoning, with A-Level teaching available depending on experience and departmental needs.

You will help students build confidence and resilience in mathematics, preparing them for GCSE and A-Level examinations while contributing to intervention strategies and enrichment opportunities such as maths clubs and competitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Develop students’ fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Support intervention strategies to raise attainment

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Promote participation in maths enrichment and wider school initiatives

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics

  • Ability to contribute to maths intervention and enrichment programmes

  • Experience working within a high-performing secondary setting

  • Strong track record of improving student outcomes
