A Manchester secondary school is looking to bring an experienced Science Technician into its department as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the practical side of science and wants to play a key part in supporting teachers and pupils. You’ll be responsible for making sure lessons have everything they need, while keeping the department organised and safe.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Prepare practical materials and equipment ahead of lessons.
  • Support Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical work.
  • Set up demonstrations and experiments.
  • Check, clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Keep an accurate record of stock and arrange replacement supplies.
  • Make sure laboratories and preparation areas are ready for use.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to meet practical requirements.
  • Follow all school safety, COSHH and chemical handling procedures.

About You

You’ll ideally have previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school or laboratory setting and have a good understanding of practical science. We're looking for someone who is organised, hands-on and able to get on with their work without needing constant direction. Good attention to detail is essential, particularly when preparing practical activities and handling equipment. GCSE or A-Level practical experience would be an advantage.
