We require an ambitious, intellectually rigorous Mathematics Teacher to deliver high-quality numerical, algebraic, and statistical instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves delivering a challenging, concepts-first state curriculum that builds mathematical fluency, logical reasoning, and confident problem-solving capabilities in all student cohorts.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and execute highly structured, evidence-based mathematics lessons that challenge students across all academic profiles and learning requirements.

  • Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 classes systematically through the demands of terminal GCSE mathematics specifications, implementing retrieval practices and exam-board strategies to maximize progress outcomes.

  • Progress Diagnostics: Run regular formative and summative assessment routines, using pupil tracking data to diagnose learning misconceptions and design sharp, targeted intervention sessions.

  • Numeracy Drive: Assist the broader department in implementing cross-curricular numeracy strategies, fostering mathematical confidence and mathematical application across all subjects.

  • Pastoral Responsibilities: Undertake full form tutor duties, managing morning registration, tracking pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal and social development units.

ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE

  • Voluntary Controlled Framework: Operating as a Voluntary Controlled (VC) school, our institution works in close partnership with the local authority and a foundation body, offering a collaborative, values-driven community that prioritizes inclusive education and community service.

  • Behaviour Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, school-wide behaviour routines that maintain a quiet, respectful, and orderly atmosphere, ensuring classrooms remain entirely calm, predictable, and focused on learning.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or a highly quantitative discipline.

  • Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public examinations through explicit, highly engaging whole-class instruction.

  • Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, highly focused, and strictly disciplined classroom culture.

REGIONAL CONTEXT
