An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated Facilities Officer to join a well-established secondary school in Manchester on a full-time, permanent basis with an ASAP start. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys a varied, hands-on position and takes pride in keeping buildings safe, secure, and operating efficiently. You'll work alongside an experienced premises team, playing a vital role in ensuring the school provides an excellent environment for learning every day.

The Role

Working under the direction of the Site Manager, you'll support the smooth day-to-day running of the school premises while helping to maintain high standards across the site. Key responsibilities include:

  • Opening and securing the school buildings as required
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, decorating, and minor repairs
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance programmes
  • Completing regular Health & Safety inspections and compliance checks
  • Supporting contractors and ensuring work is completed safely
  • Maintaining the appearance of the buildings, grounds, and external areas
  • Setting up rooms and equipment for examinations, assemblies, parents' evenings, and school events
  • Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with site improvement projects

The Successful Candidate

Applications are welcomed from experienced Facilities Officers, Premises Assistants, Caretakers, Estates Assistants, Maintenance Operatives, or candidates with relevant experience in facilities management, property maintenance, or building services. The successful candidate will be practical, reliable, and well organised, with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintaining a busy school site. Experience of Health & Safety procedures and building compliance would be advantageous.
