We are seeking a tenacious and empathetic Attendance Officer to join a vibrant secondary school in Oldham. In this role, you will be on the frontline of student engagement, working proactively with families and external agencies to improve attendance figures and support students in returning to the classroom.
Location: Oldham (Convenient for M60 and M62 commuters)
Salary: Β£24,500 β Β£28,000 (Pro-rata, dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Term-time only + 1 week

Detailed Responsibilities:
- Daily Monitoring: Conducting 'first-day-calling' for absent students and maintaining an accurate, up-to-the-minute electronic register using school systems (SIMS/Arbor).
- Home Visits: Conducting home visits to meet with parents and students where attendance is a concern, identifying underlying issues such as anxiety, illness, or external challenges.
- Intervention & Support: Creating and monitoring attendance action plans for persistently absent (PA) students and coordinating with Year Leaders to implement internal rewards for improved presence.
- Legal Liaison: Working closely with the Local Authority Education Welfare Service to prepare documentation for fixed-penalty notices or legal proceedings when necessary.
