About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Spanish across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Students study a broad curriculum covering grammar, translation, authentic texts, literature, and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Spanish examinations while encouraging confident communication, independent learning, and cultural appreciation.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through language clubs, international projects, educational visits, exchange opportunities, and enrichment activities that foster a lifelong enthusiasm for modern foreign languages.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Spanish across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Spanish examinations
Develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support language enrichment activities, cultural events, and educational visits
Foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation of languages

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Spanish at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Spanish
Ability to teach a second language such as French
Experience organising language enrichment activities or international exchanges
A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
