Science Teaching Role in an Academy

A forward-thinking Academy in Luton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join its successful Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive school that values curiosity, scientific thinking, and strong academic progress.

Science is a core subject across the school, with students encouraged to develop enquiry skills, practical confidence, and a deep understanding of scientific principles across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

About the Role

You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that inspire curiosity and support strong academic outcomes.

Students will study Biology, Chemistry, and Physics topics, developing practical skills alongside theoretical understanding and exam technique.

You will prepare students for GCSE Science and potentially A-Level Science, depending on experience and departmental needs.

You will work within a collaborative department committed to raising attainment and improving outcomes for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Science across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Deliver engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

  • Support students with practical investigations and experiments

  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations

  • Assess student progress and provide clear feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support intervention and revision programmes

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

  • Strong classroom management skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching KS5 Science

  • Experience working in an Academy or inclusive school setting

  • Ability to support exam intervention and revision sessions

  • Strong track record of improving student outcomes
