About the Role
The successful candidate will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Students study a broad curriculum covering grammar, vocabulary, translation, literature, and the culture of French-speaking countries. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations while encouraging them to communicate confidently, think independently, and apply their language skills in authentic contexts.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through language clubs, cultural events, educational visits, exchange opportunities, and enrichment activities that promote a lifelong enthusiasm for language learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations
Develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support language enrichment activities, trips, and cultural events
Foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation of languages

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching French at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge of the French language and Francophone culture
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level French
Ability to teach a second language such as Spanish
Experience organising language enrichment activities or overseas visits
A proven track record of delivering outstanding student outcomes
