A high-achieving grammar school in Luton is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful department from September. About the Role
You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire confidence, creativity, and academic progress.
Students will study a broad range of texts including Shakespeare, poetry, prose, drama, and modern literature while developing analytical thinking, interpretation, creative writing, and communication skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting students in achieving excellent academic outcomes and progression to higher education.
You will work collaboratively within a successful English department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver lessons in English Language and English Literature
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities
Maintain high standards of classroom engagement and achievement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English
Experience working in a grammar or high-achieving school setting
Ability to contribute to literacy or extracurricular activities
Strong examination preparation experience
