A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Greenwich is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join their Key Stage 2 team. As the Year 5 Teacher, you will take responsibility for planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons in line with the National Curriculum. You will support pupils as they continue to develop independence, resilience, and confidence as learners, preparing them for the transition to Upper Key Stage 2. This role would suit a reflective and motivated teacher who is passionate about helping pupils make strong academic and personal progress. You will be supported by experienced colleagues, teaching assistants, and senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering high-quality lessons across the Year 5 curriculum
- Creating an inclusive, engaging, and well-managed classroom environment
- Assessing, tracking, and monitoring pupil progress
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL
- Promoting positive behaviour and strong learning habits
- Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
- Communicating effectively with parents and carers
- Contributing to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives
- Upholding safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable)
- Strong knowledge of the KS2 National Curriculum
- High expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
- A positive, reflective, and proactive approach to teaching
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
The following would be advantageous but not essential:
- Experience working in a diverse, inner-city school setting
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or EAL
- Subject leadership experience or interest
