The Year 4 Teacher will join pre-term planning sessions before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and start teaching from January 2026.

A week with the Year 4 Teacher:

  • Mornings: the Year 4 Teacher begins the day with retrieval practice, fluent arithmetic sessions and purposeful guided reading.
  • Afternoons: the Year 4 Teacher leads enquiry-based history or science units, where conceptual knowledge is sequenced and assessed.

The Year 4 Teacher will run interventions, lead a curriculum club and support cross-phase moderation — activities the Year 4 Teacher will plan for before January 2026 and deliver from January 2026 onwards.

Professional growth for the Year 4 Teacher:

The appointed Year 4 Teacher will have access to coaching, peer observations and subject-specific CPD. This Full-Time Year 4 Teacher role beginning January 2026 provides opportunities to lead a subject strand, take part in curriculum research and develop leadership skills. The Year 4 Teacher will be expected to contribute to school improvement work and to mentor less experienced colleagues after the January 2026 start.
