Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Year 2 Teacher looking for a Full-Time role beginning January 2026? A hardworking Merton primary is recruiting a Year 2 Teacher to secure strong outcomes and support pupils through the end of KS1.

This Year 2 Teacher role will be fully involved in planning before January 2026, will attend induction in January 2026, and will teach from January 2026.

Role summary - Year 2 Teacher

The Year 2 Teacher will lead a Year 2 class, planning sequenced reading, writing and mathematics units. The Year 2 Teacher will implement systematic phonics, close gaps through targeted interventions and prepare pupils for a confident transition to Key Stage 2. The Year 2 Teacher will prepare assessment evidence in cycles beginning after January 2026 and will moderate with colleagues.

Year 2 Teacher Requirements
  • QTS/PGCE (or equivalent) and demonstrable KS1 experience.
  • Secure phonics delivery and small-group teaching skills.
  • Commitment to multi-disciplinary work with inclusion staff; availability for planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and classroom start from January 2026 is required.
Year 2 Teacher Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality English and maths lessons.
  • Use assessment to personalise learning and run booster groups.
  • Liaise with parents and external partners.
