CORE PURPOSE

We are seeking an articulate, highly organized, and efficient Senior Admin Officer to manage administrative workflows, oversee student data platforms, and support operational leadership within a high-achieving secondary school in Camden. Reporting to the School Business Manager, the successful candidate will coordinate daily office functions, manage pupil records and statutory reporting, supervise administrative personnel, and maintain high standards of communication across the school community.

THE SCHOOL

Set on a historic, well-maintained campus in Inner North London, this vibrant voluntary aided secondary school serves over 1,000 pupils aged 11–18. Founded on a strong Catholic ethos of community, academic ambition, and personal care, the school warmly welcomes staff of all faiths and backgrounds. The administration team serves as a vital central engine, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, exemplary safeguarding compliance, and effective engagement between staff, students, families, and local authority partners.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Office Management & Team Supervision: Supervise daily administrative duties, assign workloads to junior office staff, and ensure front-of-house operations run efficiently and professionally.

  • MIS & Statutory Data Reporting: Oversee the school Management Information System (SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom), managing student records, generating attendance analytics, and preparing official census returns for the local authority and DfE.

  • Admissions & Transition Coordination: Manage secondary intake admissions, coordinate open evening administration, process mid-year transfers, and maintain accurate student files.

  • Leadership & Secretarial Support: Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, handling confidential correspondence, governor meeting documentation, and school policy updates.

  • Safeguarding & Visitor Compliance: Enforce strict visitor access control, manage single central record (SCR) identity checks, and handle sensitive student information in strict compliance with GDPR and safeguarding standards.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: High level of literacy and numeracy with GCSEs in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above). Relevant qualifications in Business Administration, Office Management, or Public Sector Operations (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4) are advantageous.

  • Experience: Substantial experience in an administrative or secretarial position within a UK mainstream secondary school, academy, or college setting, with proven expertise in operating school MIS platforms.

  • Skills: Excellent IT proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, school databases), superior verbal and written communication, strong organizational capabilities, and the capacity to handle competing priorities calmly and discreetly.

REGIONAL CONTEXT

  • Local Area & Community: Located in the culturally vibrant Inner London Borough of Camden, the school serves a dynamic and diverse community. Camden offers a rich blend of historic architecture, world-famous creative markets, major academic institutions, and iconic green spaces such as Regent's Park and Primrose Hill.

  • Transport & Commuting: Camden boasts premier central transport connections across London. The school is easily reachable via major TfL bus corridors and key transport hubs including Camden Town and Mornington Crescent (Northern Line), alongside Overground stations and major rail terminals at King's Cross St Pancras and Euston nearby.
