A forward-thinking primary academy in Acton is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate SENCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their leadership team from January 2026. This is a pivotal role for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about inclusive education, pupil wellbeing, and safeguarding excellence. The successful candidate will lead the school’s provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities while ensuring that safeguarding remains a central priority across the school community.

Location: Acton, West London
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Permanent (or Long-Term Fixed Term)
Working Pattern: Full-Time
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (Dependent on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school, ensuring high-quality teaching and interventions for all learners.
  • Oversee the safeguarding strategy as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining robust policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure pupils’ academic and emotional needs are fully met.
  • Coordinate EHCP processes, assessments, and reviews in collaboration with families and the local authority.
  • Deliver staff training and support around SEND and safeguarding best practice.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate, confidential records in line with statutory guidance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete it).
  • Proven experience as a SENCo, DSL, or in a similar leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and current safeguarding legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and lead by example.
  • A proactive, reflective, and child-centred approach.
