SENCO Role in an Outstanding Primary School

An Outstanding Primary School in Camden is seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate SENCO to join its dedicated leadership team from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the strategic leadership and development of SEND across the school, ensuring pupils with additional needs receive high-quality, personalised support.

Working closely with the Headteacher, senior leadership team, teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals, you will coordinate effective interventions, oversee EHCP processes, monitor pupil progress, and support colleagues in delivering outstanding inclusive teaching.

This role would suit an experienced SENCO or an ambitious teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination who is passionate about creating an environment where every pupil can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the school's SEND provision

  • Coordinate support for pupils with a range of additional needs

  • Manage EHCPs, annual reviews, and statutory processes

  • Provide guidance and training to teachers and support staff

  • Liaise with parents, local authorities, and external agencies

  • Monitor pupil progress and evaluate intervention strategies

  • Promote inclusive teaching practices across the school

  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete it where applicable)

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND

  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a SENCO

  • Experience managing EHCPs and multi-agency partnerships

  • Proven ability to improve outcomes for pupils with additional needs

  • Experience delivering staff training and leading inclusive initiatives
