Wayman Education are looking for SEND Teaching Assistants to join a friendly, supportive, and inclusive Primary school in Islington. This is a long-term position working with a student who has additional learning needs and can display challenging behaviour. The school is looking for someone patient, understanding and committed to helping young people thrive. This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference in a student’s day-to-day school experience.
What the role involves:
- Providing one-to-one support to a student with special educational needs, helping them stay engaged and feel supported in lessons.
- Building positive relationships to encourage confidence, independence, and progress.
- Supporting the class teacher with daily activities and maintaining a calm, inclusive classroom.
- Demonstrates understanding of various needs from mild to complex.
- Following detailed EHCPs and working closely with the SENCO.
- Work across EYFS to KS2.
- Previous experience working with SEND pupils or provisions (in schools or a similar setting).
- A calm and patient approach with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- The right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Two professional references.
