Science Technician – Well-Run Science Department | October Start in London

A high-performing secondary school in Hammersmith & Fulham is looking for a Science Technician to join its department on a permanent basis from October.

You’ll be responsible for preparing practical work across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, keeping laboratories well organised and ensuring equipment and materials are ready for lessons.

The Role

  • Prepare and set up practical experiments and demonstrations.

  • Organise equipment, chemicals and materials for lessons.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and stock levels.

  • Support teachers during practical sessions.

  • Keep laboratories clean, safe and well maintained.

  • Follow school health and safety procedures.

  • Assist with ordering and monitoring supplies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory setting.

  • Good knowledge of practical science and laboratory equipment.

  • Understanding of COSHH and safe chemical handling.

  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.

  • Able to work independently and manage a busy workload.

  • Reliable, practical and confident working in a school environment.

Experience supporting GCSE or A-Level practicals would be useful.

Working Hours

The role will generally follow school opening hours, with a typical pattern of Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
