A high-performing secondary school in Islington is looking to appoint a Science Technician to join its science department on a permanent basis from October.

You’ll work closely with the teaching team to ensure practical lessons are well prepared, equipment is maintained and laboratories are kept safe and organised.

The Role

  • Prepare equipment, chemicals and resources for practical lessons.

  • Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and monitor stock.

  • Assist with ordering and organising science supplies.

  • Support teachers during practical sessions.

  • Keep laboratories and preparation areas clean and tidy.

  • Follow COSHH and school health and safety procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment.

  • Good knowledge of practical science and laboratory equipment.

  • Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices.

  • Organised, reliable and able to manage your own workload.

  • Good attention to detail and a practical approach.

  • Comfortable working closely with teachers and supporting practical lessons.

Previous experience in a secondary school and familiarity with GCSE practical work would be beneficial.

Working Hours

The role will generally follow school opening times, with a typical pattern of Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
