About the Role
The successful candidate will lead the school's business and operational functions, ensuring that financial resources, staffing, facilities, and administrative services are managed efficiently and effectively.
You will oversee budgeting, financial planning, procurement, HR processes, premises management, health and safety, contract management, and statutory compliance while supporting the school's long-term strategic objectives. This is a varied leadership role requiring excellent commercial awareness, organisational skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, governors, parents, and external partners.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play an integral role in supporting school improvement and ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality operational services.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Oversee procurement, contract management, and supplier relationships
Manage HR operations, recruitment, payroll liaison, and personnel processes
Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and statutory regulations
Oversee estates, facilities management, and premises development
Lead the school's administrative and operational support teams
Support strategic planning alongside the Headteacher and Governors
Ensure robust risk management and governance procedures are maintained

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Significant experience in school business, finance, or operational management
Strong financial management and budget planning experience
Knowledge of HR, procurement, estates management, and statutory compliance
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Ability to contribute strategically as part of a senior leadership team
Desirable
Experience working within a primary school or educational setting
ISBL School Business Professional qualification or equivalent
Knowledge of academy or maintained school financial regulations
Experience leading organisational improvement and change management initiatives
