Are you a strategic, hands-on School Business Manager seeking a senior role from January 2026? A thriving primary in Greenwich is looking for an experienced School Business Manager to take responsibility for finance, operations and staffing systems across the school. The School Business Manager will lead annual budget preparation, manage cashflow, coordinate audit processes and provide the headteacher and governors with timely, accurate financial information.
In addition to core financial duties, the School Business Manager will lead procurement strategy, manage contracts for services and oversee premises and facilities so the school operates efficiently day-to-day. The role is based in Greenwich and will begin January 2026, with a structured induction period before the spring term.
Responsibilities- Prepare and present budgets, maintain monthly management accounts and ensure strong financial control.
- Lead procurement, contract negotiation and supplier performance management.
- Ensure payroll accuracy, pensions administration and compliance with HR procedures.
- Manage premises, daily operations and health & safety arrangements to a high standard.
- Provide clear, accessible financial information and guidance to governors and senior leaders.
- Substantial experience in school business management or equivalent finance/operations leadership.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and proven experience working with governors or boards.
- Effective line-management experience and the ability to lead small operational teams.
- Available to start January 2026, and able to commute to Greenwich.
