CORE PURPOSE

We require a dynamic, deeply nurturing Reception Teacher to lead an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) classroom through the vital first steps of their formal school journey. Operating within a highly collaborative academy environment, the successful candidate will design a stimulating, communication-rich setting that prioritizes early reading acquisition, fundamental mathematical curiosity, and the essential social-emotional habits required for lifelong academic confidence.

THE SCHOOL

Our primary academy operates as a vibrant, community-focused mainstream school dedicated to providing a child-centred education that celebrates its rich inner-city diversity. The campus features custom-designed Early Years spaces, inclusive of large, multi-sensory indoor continuous provision zones and a secure, fully resourced outdoor learning environment. Our behaviour framework is rooted entirely in positive reinforcement, co-regulation strategies, and clear, predictable routines, establishing a safe and joyful environment where early learners feel valued and eager to explore.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Immersive EYFS Curriculum Design: Plan and facilitate a balance of child-initiated play and adult-led learning blocks centred around the seven core strands of the EYFS statutory framework.

  • Systematic Synthetic Phonics Launch: Deliver daily high-impact phonics sessions, instilling robust phonemic awareness, accurate sound recognition, and early blending skills to ensure a confident trajectory toward independent reading.

  • Early Mathematical Mastery: Introduce foundational concepts of number, shape, and spatial reasoning using concrete resources and practical, real-world counting games to embed deep early number sense.

  • Continuous Provision Optimization: Creatively manage and refresh indoor and outdoor play-based zones, ensuring every station acts as a rich tool for communication, motor skill development, and problem-solving.

  • Observation and Profile Tracking: Implement thorough, qualitative assessment routines, utilizing early years observation software to capture key developmental milestones and share learning journeys directly with families.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized primary credential, supported by specialist training or extensive classroom experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

  • Early Reading Expertise: Comprehensive practical knowledge of validated synthetic phonics frameworks, with a proven ability to bring stories and language to life for children of all backgrounds.

  • Empathetic Classroom Leadership: A highly energetic, patient, and emotionally literate presence, capable of establishing warm, secure boundaries while fostering a highly inclusive, exploratory learning atmosphere.

REGIONAL CONTEXT

  • Urban Vitality & Multicultural Heritage: Situated in the bustling, culturally diverse heart of Shepherd's Bush within West London, the school serves a wonderfully cosmopolitan neighbourhood. The surrounding area—characterized by the creative hub of White City, the historic Shepherd's Bush Market, and expansive community green spaces—provides a brilliant, real-world landscape for language-rich neighbourhood walks, sensory community projects, and celebrating diverse family traditions.

  • Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from premium West London transport links, making it easily accessible for commuting professionals. It sits within walking distance of several major transport hubs, including Shepherd's Bush (Central Line and London Overground), Shepherd's Bush Market (Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines), and Goldhawk Road stations, alongside an extensive network of Transport for London bus routes operating along the Uxbridge Road corridor.
