Are you an intellectually curious academic with the expertise to lead students through the complexities of the human mind and behaviour? Can you bridge the gap between biological foundations and cognitive theory for the UK’s highest-achieving students?

Wayman Education is seeking a high-achieving academic to join the Social Sciences faculty of a world-renowned independent school in Central London. Psychology is one of the school’s most popular and successful A-Level choices, and we are looking for a specialist who can deliver a curriculum rooted in empirical research and critical scholarship.

The Role

  • Advanced Instruction: Deliver the A-Level specification (AQA or IB) with a focus on Biopsychology, Psychopathology, and complex Research Methods.
  • Super-Curricular Leadership: Lead the school’s Psychology & Neuroscience Society, overseeing undergraduate-level research projects and entries for the Minds Underground Psychology Essay Competition.
  • Statistical Mastery: Guide students through the application of inferential statistics (Chi-Squared, Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon), ensuring a high level of mathematical precision in their research reports.
  • Oxbridge Mentorship: Provide specialist coaching for students applying for Experimental Psychology or PPL (Psychology, Philosophy, and Linguistics) at Oxford and Cambridge.

The Candidate

  • Academic Pedigree: A First-Class or Upper Second-Class degree in Psychology or Neuroscience from a Russell Group University. A Master’s or PhD is highly advantageous.
  • Scientific Fluency: A deep understanding of the biological approach, including the influence of neurotransmitters, brain structure, and genetics on behaviour.
  • Analytical Flair: The ability to teach students how to critically evaluate the validity and reliability of landmark studies (e.g., Loftus and Palmer, Milgram, Rosenhan) while incorporating modern peer-reviewed research.
  • Scholarly Presence: An engaging communicator who can lead seminar-style debates on free will vs. determinism and the 'nature-nurture' debate.

The Environment

  • Intellectual Hub: Located in a prestigious Central London borough, offering easy access to the British Psychological Society (BPS) and world-leading research hospitals.
  • Exceptional Cohort: Teach highly motivated, articulate students who are eager to challenge theories and explore heterodox perspectives.
  • Professional Autonomy: Join a department that values academic freedom and encourages the use of university-style lecturing and seminar formats.
  • Elite Benefits: Access to a superior salary package, private medical insurance, and generous funding for independent academic research or CPD.

Apply Now: This is a rare opportunity for a high-level academic to secure a career-defining role within the London independent sector.
