You would be joining a thriving Physical Education department where sport is an important part of school life and students are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and a positive attitude towards physical activity. The department delivers a broad and engaging curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Students are given opportunities to develop their practical performance across a wide range of sports while also building their understanding of fitness, health, tactics and teamwork.
At GCSE, students develop both practical and theoretical knowledge, studying areas such as anatomy and physiology, physical training, sports psychology, socio-cultural influences and analysis of performance. A-Level students are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of sports science and performance while preparing for further education and careers within sport, teaching, physiotherapy, coaching and related areas.
The department has access to excellent sporting facilities, allowing students to participate in a wide range of activities throughout the academic year. The extracurricular programme is also an important part of school life, with students encouraged to participate in clubs, fixtures, competitions and sporting events.
The successful teacher will be expected to contribute to the wider sporting life of the school and may have opportunities to support teams, organise fixtures and develop extracurricular activities according to their own sporting interests and expertise. You will work alongside experienced colleagues within a collaborative department where planning, assessment and ideas are shared regularly. The School provides excellent CPD, an established ECT programme and opportunities for teachers to take on additional responsibilities as their experience develops.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Physical Education or Sports Science Degree
- QTS
- Experience teaching PE at secondary level
- Strong practical knowledge across a range of sports
- GCSE PE experience essential
- A-Level PE experience desirable
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Ability to contribute to extracurricular sport
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Commitment to student achievement and inclusion
The salary for this Physical Education Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS.
