A forward-thinking secondary school in Hackney is looking to appoint an experienced HR Officer to join its support staff team on a full-time, temporary basis from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised HR professional to become part of a busy school where people are at the heart of its success. Working closely with the School Business Manager and senior leaders, the successful candidate will help deliver an efficient HR service, supporting staff across every stage of the employee lifecycle while ensuring the school remains compliant with employment and safeguarding requirements.

The HR Officer will play an important role in supporting the school's day-to-day HR operations and maintaining high standards across all people processes. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting recruitment campaigns and coordinating interview processes
  • Managing pre-employment checks and safeguarding compliance
  • Maintaining HR systems and employee records
  • Preparing contracts, contract variations and HR correspondence
  • Liaising with payroll to ensure staffing changes are processed accurately
  • Monitoring absence records and supporting attendance procedures
  • Assisting managers with HR queries and administrative support
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of HR processes and systems
