We are currently seeking a knowledgeable, proactive and highly organised HR Manager to join a highly regarded and high-performing secondary school in Westminster. About the Role

As the HR Manager, you will lead on all aspects of the school’s HR operations. This is a strategic and hands-on role, working closely with the Headteacher, SLT and middle leaders to ensure the smooth running of staffing, compliance and people management across the school. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the full HR function, ensuring compliance with legislation and school policies
  • Overseeing the recruitment process for all staff, including advertising, shortlisting and interviews
  • Managing safer recruitment and onboarding, including DBS checks, references and Right-to-Work compliance
  • Maintaining and updating the Single Central Record (SCR) to safeguarding standards
  • Supporting staff relations, performance management, contract management and absence monitoring
  • Advising senior leaders on HR matters including policy, disciplinary issues and best practice
  • Managing HR systems, personnel files and accurate record-keeping
  • Supporting staff induction, CPD tracking and whole-school HR projects
  • Liaising with external agencies, local authority teams and HR partners as required

This role requires professionalism, discretion and the ability to build strong working relationships across the school.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous HR Manager or senior HR Officer experience (school experience highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of safer recruitment and HR processes within education
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills
  • Experience advising on policy, employee relations and HR compliance
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) desirable
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced school environment
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
