Role Purpose

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children aged 3–5 within Nursery and Reception, helping them develop key skills in communication, early literacy, numeracy, and social interaction. You will support teacher-led sessions, child-initiated play, and targeted interventions designed to meet individual learning needs. A significant aspect of the role involves supporting children with SEN, speech and language delays, EAL, and emotional or behavioural challenges, ensuring inclusive access to learning and promoting positive early experiences of school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support EYFS learning activities in line with the EYFS framework
  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to support development goals
  • Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
  • Assist with phonics, early reading, writing, and maths activities
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence
  • Support daily routines including transitions, snack time, and outdoor play
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and organised learning environment
  • Observe and record children’s progress and achievements
  • Work collaboratively with EYFS staff, SENCO, and parents
  • Support children’s personal care needs where required
  • Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times
