A highly regarded and inclusive primary school in West London is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work across Nursery and Reception classes, supporting children aged 3 to 5 during a critical stage of their learning and development. You will support the class teacher in delivering a rich, play-based curriculum aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, while also providing targeted support for children who require additional help. This role requires a warm, patient, and observant individual who understands the importance of early childhood development and the impact that positive early experiences have on long-term outcomes. You will support children’s learning, wellbeing, and independence throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through engaging, age-appropriate learning activities
- Assisting with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early mathematics
- Supporting children’s communication and language development
- Providing one-to-one or small group support for children with additional needs
- Supporting children with social interaction, emotional regulation, and behaviour
- Assisting with personal care routines, including toileting and changing where required
- Supporting children during transitions, such as arrival, tidy-up times, and moving between activities
- Observing, recording, and contributing to assessments of children’s progress
- Supporting both indoor and outdoor learning environments
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to support individual children
- Promoting independence, confidence, and self-esteem
- Supporting safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
The school is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who demonstrates:
- Previous experience working within an EYFS or nursery setting
- A strong understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
- A nurturing, patient, and calm approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with young children
- A flexible and proactive attitude
The following would be advantageous but not essential:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Experience supporting children with SEND or speech and language needs
- Knowledge of phonics programmes
