Economics Teacher
You would be joining a successful and academically ambitious Economics department where students are encouraged to understand how economic decisions affect businesses, individuals and wider society.
The department delivers a challenging and engaging curriculum that combines economic theory with current affairs and real-world examples. Students explore areas including markets, supply and demand, market failure, government policy, economic growth, inflation, unemployment, international trade and financial markets.
At A-Level, students are encouraged to develop sophisticated analytical and evaluative skills, using economic models and contemporary examples to construct well-supported arguments. Lessons focus not only on understanding the specification but also on helping students become confident thinkers who can interpret data, challenge assumptions and evaluate different economic perspectives.
The department places a strong emphasis on discussion and independent learning. Students are regularly encouraged to follow current economic developments, discuss news stories and consider how changes in government policy can affect different groups within society.
There are also opportunities for students to participate in economics competitions, university outreach, investment challenges, guest speaker sessions and careers events. The successful teacher will be encouraged to contribute to the wider academic life of the department.
The School provides excellent professional development, an established ECT programme and opportunities for additional responsibilities. Experienced teachers will have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development and wider departmental initiatives.
