The Opportunity

Are you a data specialist with the ability to turn complex numbers into a clear narrative of student progress? Can you provide the analytical backbone for a school committed to academic excellence and social mobility? We are seeking a methodical and intellectually sharp Data Officer to join a premier support team in Greenwich. Located in a borough defined by its maritime history, Royal Observatory heritage, and modern urban regeneration, this school treats data as a vital tool for equity. We are looking for an individual who can manage the rigour of national reporting while providing the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with the insights needed to ensure no student falls through the gaps.

Core Responsibilities

  • Systems Management: Acting as the expert lead on the school’s Management Information System (SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom), ensuring the absolute integrity and security of all student and staff data.
  • Assessment & Tracking: Coordinating the collection and analysis of student 'Attainment' and 'Progress' data across all Key Stages, producing sophisticated reports for Subject Leads and Year Leaders.
  • Statutory Returns: Leading on the completion of the School Census, Workforce Census, and other Department for Education (DfE) statutory returns, ensuring 100% compliance and accuracy.
  • Target Setting: Managing the integration of external data benchmarks (such as FFT Aspire, CAT4, or ALPS) to help the school set ambitious yet realistic targets for every learner.
  • Visual Reporting: Creating clear, high-impact data visualisations and dashboards that allow non-data specialists (teachers and governors) to quickly identify trends, underperformance, or success stories.
  • Exams Integration: Working closely with the Examinations Officer to ensure the seamless transfer of candidate data and the rapid analysis of 'Results Day' statistics.

Why This School?

  • Greenwich’s Innovation Corridor: Work in a borough that balances tradition with a forward-thinking approach to education and technology, providing a professional and aspirational work culture.
  • Strategic Influence: Occupy a pivotal role that directly informs school improvement strategies, where your analysis is used to shape interventions and celebrate achievements.
  • Advanced Technical Environment: Benefit from a school that invests in modern cloud-based systems and provides the time and resources needed for high-level data architecture.
  • Professional Growth: Access to specialist training in SQL, Power BI, or Advanced Excel for Schools, with clear pathways toward Data Manager or Director of Operations roles.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience: Proven experience in a high-level data analysis or administrative role is essential. Direct experience managing data within a UK secondary school or MAT (Multi-Academy Trust) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Mastery: Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, nested functions, and pivot tables) and a deep understanding of school MIS databases.
  • Analytical Mindset: The ability to not just 'pull' data, but to interrogate it—identifying the 'why' behind the numbers and presenting findings with clarity.
  • Character: A detail-oriented, resilient, and highly organised individual who understands the critical importance of GDPR and data confidentiality in an educational setting.
