We are seeking a meticulous and analytically-minded Data Manager to join a forward-thinking secondary school in the Woodberry Grove area of Hackney. This is a critical non-teaching role, responsible for the integrity, analysis, and reporting of all school performance data to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and external bodies.
Location: Woodberry Grove, Hackney (Excellent links via Manor House and Finsbury Park)
Salary: Highly competitive (Hackney Grade, dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Usually year-round to support exam results periods)
Reports to: Assistant Principal / School Business Manager
The Role
As the School Data Manager, you will be the gatekeeper of information. You will transform raw numbers into actionable insights that help teachers improve student outcomes. Key duties include:
- Systems Management: Expertly managing the school’s Management Information System (MIS) such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom.
- Reporting: Producing detailed progress reports for parents, governors, and the SLT, including Progress 8 and Attainment 8 metrics.
- Census & Compliance: Leading on the completion of statutory returns, including the School Census and Workforce Census.
- Exams Support: Working closely with the Exams Officer to ensure student data is accurately uploaded for board entries.
The Environment
Situated in a modern, vibrant campus near the Woodberry Wetlands, this school is at the heart of a rapidly developing Hackney community. The school is known for its "data-rich" culture, where information is used transparently to support student growth rather than just for tracking. You will work in a professional office environment alongside a dedicated administrative and IT support team.
Candidate Profile
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and complex formulas) is essential.
- Experience: Previous experience managing data within an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: A "right first time" mentality when handling sensitive student and staff information.
- Communication: The ability to explain complex data trends to non-specialist staff and stakeholders.
- Safeguarding: A commitment to GDPR and data protection protocols is mandatory.
Why Join This School?
- Impactful Work: Your analysis directly influences interventions that help students succeed.
- Professional Autonomy: Take ownership of the data strategy and reporting cycles within the school.
